It is a perpetual problem over Christmas (and I assume for our American and Canadian friends at Thanksgiving) that there is never enough oven space for what you want to cook, especially when you’ve got guests.

This is why we love this method for cooking Pigs in Blankets in the air fryer – a super quick, oven-free way to make everyone’s favourite party food. If you are looking for simple dinner ideas in the air fryer, try my Crispy Pork Belly in the Air Fryer or Marinated Air-Fryer Lamb Chops.

Pigs in Blankets – for ease of entertaining, buy pre-assembled pigs in blankets so all you have to do is throw them in the air fryer!

Cranberry sauce – from a jar is fine, but you can also make your own.

Substitutions and Variations:

Assemble your own pigs in blankets – if you want to go the extra mile and assemble your own pigs in blankets, use 1/2 a piece of streaky bacon per cocktail sausage, and secure the join with half a toothpick so the bacon does not uncurl in the air fryer.

Make them sticky – a few minutes before the end of cooking, once the bacon is crispy, drizzle over a little honey or maple syrup, toss and air fry for a further 3 minutes. You will however need to clean out your air fryer if you do this if you’re not using a liner!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Pigs in Blankets be cooked from frozen in the air fryer?

Yes, but add an extra 5 minutes onto the cooking time, and either toss the basket or turn the pigs in blankets after the first 5 minutes.

Can these Pigs in Blankets be cooked ahead in the air fryer?

Yes! To re-heat, simply air fry them for a further 5 minutes or so when cooked through. You don’t need to worry about overcrowding the air fryer basket when you’re re-heating, so this is a good way to serve a crowd. Crisp them up properly in batches ahead of time, then heat them through when your guests arrive.
